Once your Coinsquare account has migrated to the new platform, you will be asked to claim this account using your old credentials (username and password). If you have 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled on your Coinsquare account then you should expect to be asked for this as well.
Coinsquare uses the Time-Based One Time Password (TOTP) method for 2FA. TOTP authenticates access to your account by using a temporary passcode generated by an algorithm. In other words, you will be asked to provide a 6-digit code from your Authenticator app in order to proceed with claiming your account.
What if I don't have access to my original 2FA code?
There are multiple situations that can result in a user losing access to or misplacing their 2FA code for their Coinsquare account. Changing devices is the most common instance. Fortunately, the solution is quite simple!
If you have lost access to your 2FA code and this is preventing you from claiming your account after migration, contact our Support Team at email@example.com or start a chat by clicking the chat bubble. We will be able to reset the connection for you.
Once we have confirmed that your 2FA has been reset, you will need to use another link to continue claiming your account by adding your email here - www.app-new.coinsquare.com/migrate. This will send an email with a new link for you to continue the process.
How do I set-up 2FA on my new account during Migration?
After inputting your old Coinsquare credentials, you will be asked to set-up a new 2FA connection for your new account (if your account meets certain requirements). The page will look something like the image below.
You will need to have an Authenticator App in order to complete this section successfully. For more information on recommended Authenticator Apps as well as general instructions on how to add 2FA connections for each, please refer to the articles below.
Once downloaded, scan the QR code or copy and paste the Secret Key into your chosen authenticator. This will produce the 6-digit code that you’ll use at this step of claiming your account!
