Enabling 2FA gives your account an additional layer of protection, above and beyond just your password. Coinsquare uses a 2FA method that requires clients to generate and input a 6-digit code from a 3rd party Authenticator app in order to complete login. Authy is a major 2FA app provided by US technology firm Twilio. They offer both a phone and desktop version for added versatility.
To activate Twilio Authy 2FA, first install the Authenticator app on your device. Follow this link to download from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. You can also download the desktop version from that page.
Once downloaded, follow these general in-app instructions to set-up new 2FA:
Open the Authy app. Create an account or login using your phone number.
Click the + button in the centre of the screen. Choose between "Scan QR Code" (recommended) or "Enter Code Manually" to input the long-form code.
You should be seeing a 6-digit code on the next page when done successfully. Take this code and enter it where prompted before the timer runs out, otherwise use the next 6-digit code.
FOR AUTHY DESKTOP USERS
Download and install the Authy app onto your desktop using the link provided above. Create an account or login using your phone number.
Click the + button in the centre of the screen. The desktop version of Authy cannot scan the QR code - you can only add accounts using the long-form code. You will need to copy and paste the Secret key in order to continue.
You should be seeing a 6-digit code on the next page when done successfully. Take this code and enter it where prompted before the timer runs out, otherwise use the next 6-digit code.
Once you enable 2FA, you will be asked to input a randomly-generated 6-digit code from your Authenticator app in addition to your password, each time you login. This code updates every 30 seconds on the Authenticator app.
